Module programming and coding
Software updates, coding and setup for new or used replacement modules on supported vehicles, done at your vehicle with professional programming equipment.

Programming, coding and setup
They are different jobs, and many replacements need more than one.
- Programming
- Loads software onto a module, for example after replacement or when a fault calls for a software update.
- Coding
- Sets the module up for your specific vehicle and its options.
- Setup & adaptations
- Initializes or adapts components so they work correctly with the rest of the vehicle after a replacement or repair.
When it is needed
A module has been replaced
New or used replacement modules usually need programming, coding or setup before they work correctly.
A fault calls for a software update
Some faults are corrected by updating module software once diagnosis confirms it.
Warnings persist after a repair
Messages that stay after a repair can point to setup or coding that was not completed.
Before we start
We confirm that the vehicle and module are supported before any programming begins.
- Year, make and model, and the VIN
- The module part number, if you have it
- Whether the module is new, used or original
- What happened before the problem started
Programming questions
Can you program a used or replacement module?
In many cases, yes. It depends on the module type, the vehicle and the module itself. We confirm whether your module is supported before starting.
Which makes do you program?
We program and code modules on American, Asian and European vehicles, with particular expertise in European electronics and BMW. Whether a specific module can be programmed depends on the vehicle, the module and the equipment required, so call with the details.
Does every no-start or warning light need programming?
No. Many faults are electrical or mechanical. Diagnosis comes first, so programming is only done when it is actually needed.
